The Ghost of Harmony Hall

By Lawrence J. Hogan, A.B.,M.A.,J.D.

The Ghost of Harmony Hall is a story of love, mystery, and the supernatural.  A young parish priest finds a trunk full of brilliant, inspiring sermons in the rectory attic.  He uses these sermons and becomes a better priest and a great orator. He is obsessed with learning the identity of the deceased priest who wrote these sermons.  A series of strange events involving the spirit of a beautiful, young, slave woman solves the mystery and changes the young priest's life forever.

Blue-green button Hogan masterfully re-creates an historically extinct world and melds it with the prevailing worldview of the modern setting in which it takes place. It is an adeptly crafted tale of love, social progress and posthumous evolution. It blends old world Christian values with new age concepts and possibilities. A delightful read.

Blue-green button This is a well-written tale of mystery, history and love. It took very few pages for the author to beautifully and sympathetically develop the character of the young priest and to build the reader's interest in him, his moral fiber and his purpose for his life. The supernatural aspects of the story became very believable and evolved naturally. I found it nearly impossible to put the book down.

Blue-green button The story is light and enjoyable reading. It combines the elements of suspense, history and life-like characters into a clever story. It is not "War and Peace" but is very entertaining.

Blue-green button A wonderful love story with just enough mystery mixed in. I really enjoyed trying to fit the pieces together. The little history lesson was very enjoyable.
